The Women’s Exclusive Program at the GD Jiu-Jitsu Academy is a class designed to introduce women to the “gentle art” with the comfort of training in an all female environment. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu can be intimidating at first, especially since the sport is generally male-dominated, but the Women’s Exclusive Program allows women to learn, train, and develop themselves without the stress and worry of having to prove themselves to their male counterparts. The use of technique and leverage in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is what makes the sport perfect for women, regardless of age, weight, size, or athleticism.
Headed by Gustavo Dantas Brown belt and stand-out competitor, Kristina Barlaan, the Women’s Exclusive Program will provide students with many benefits. From increased strength and flexiblity to weight and stress loss, the Women’s Exclusive Program aims to build confident and empowered ladies. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is also an effective form of self-defense for women since it is designed to give power to someone who is smaller and weaker than their opponent.
“I am a small person and growing up, I was bullied and picked on. As I got older, my self-esteem, self-confidence, and self-worth were slowly picked away from me. I did not think I was strong, beautiful, or worthy of love, but then I found Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. It has truly been a life changing experience to bring Jiu-Jitsu into my life. I have found strength, self-love and acceptance, and the confidence and ability to face the World regardless of what adversities may come my way.”
